Haryana Govt. to regularise 845 illegal colonies

The Haryana Urban Local Bodies department is preparing a plan to regularise 845 illegal colonies within the jurisdiction of the civic bodies. Nearly 1,300 applications of regularisation requests have been received, so far.

The Urban Local Bodies department has plans to regularise 845 unauthorised colonies located within the jurisdiction of civic bodies in Haryana. In a recent question hour in Haryana legislative assembly, Kamal Gupta, Minister of Urban Local Bodies, Haryana, shared that the Town and Country Planning (TCP) department is inviting applications of unapproved colonies from resident welfare associations (RWAs) and developers in Haryana.

To expedite the regularisation process, a notification was issued in September last year to amend the Haryana Management of Municipal Areas (special provision) Act 2016. This amendment removed the condition of construction work on 50 percent of the plot in the new colonies developed before March 31, 2015. After the latest notification, about 1,300 applications have already been received for regularisation of illegal colonies.

Colonies in Haryana were divided into four categories based on the ratio of build-up area on the entire plot. The categories are – below 25 percent of built-up area, 25 percent to 50 percent of the build-up area, 50 percent to 75 percent of the build-up area and more than 75 percent built-up area, Kamal Gupta mentioned.
