The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) Special Housing Scheme has registered over 22,000 applicants. The scheme was launched on December 23, last year, and the last date for applying under the scheme was March 10, 2022.

According to a senior official of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), 22,179 people have enrolled themselves for the DDA Special Housing Scheme 2021, of which payments from 12,253 applicants have been confirmed. The final figure will be reconciled with the banks. The applications under the scheme were due by March 10, 2022.

Previously, the deadline for applying under the scheme was February 7, 2022. However, the authority extended the due date in response to public demand under the light of the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The housing authority offered this as their second program for 2021; the first one was offered earlier last year.

Under the DDA Special Housing Scheme 2021, 18,335 flats of different categories were offered in places, such as Dwarka, Narela, Rohini, and Jasola, among others. These flats were those which the urban body did not sell in the previous housing schemes.

DDA announced the scheme via a newspaper advertisement, which stated that flats were being sold at “discounted prices”. According to the DDA brochure, a flat in Jasola in the High-Income Group (HIG) category may cost up to Rs 2.14 crore. There are 205 HIG flats, 976 Middle-Income Group (MIG) flats, 11,452 Low-Income Group (LIG) flats, and 5,702 flats in the Economically Weaker Section (EWS)/Janta category.
